Properties and Preview

Part name
Shows the "actual" part name. In the part structure, however, a different name may be shown: If the attribute "Article number" (designation) has been assigned to a part, the article number will be shown instead of the part name in the part structure. For assemblies, Steel Engineering parts and Sheet Metal parts this is always the case, as the article number will be automatically assigned here.

Level
By assigning of visualisation levels (0 - 999), overlaps can be created in 2-D. In this way, overlapped line elements can be hidden completely, or displayed with a different line type.

Geometric type
Shows the geometric type of the part. This part type will be automatically assigned by HiCAD, e.g. dummy part, part with isolated points or solid.

Colour
Shows the shading colour assigned to a part.

Layer
Shows the layer to which the active part has been assigned. Available are layer numbers 0 - 999. Layer number 49 is reserved for dimensionings. Parts on Layer 0 are "invisible" and will not be visualized. Parts on Layer 40 are transparent.

Scale

For 2-D parts, the scale in the Properties tab of the ICN is represented as 1:n [1:m]. The scale shown in square brackets is the part scale, the other scale is the result from part scale and main scale of the drawing. If the main scale is, for example, 1:2, and the part scale is 1:3, then 1:1.5 [1:3] will be displayed. If the main scale and the part scale are identical, e.g. 1:2, the part will (in relation to the main scale) be displayed without size change

An example:

The displayed drawing was created with a scale of 1:2. Then, the two parts of equal size were drawn. In both cases, a scale of 1:1 [1:2] will be displayed. If you now set the part scale of Part 2 to 1:3, this will cause Part 2 to be displayed smaller in relation to the main scale. A scale of 1:1.5 [1:3] will then be displayed. The scale for Part 1 will remain unchanged.

Material
Shows the material assigned to the part.

Module
During designing with HiCAD, a module number will be automatically assigned internally to each object, e.g. Standard, or Sheet Metal (flange), or Steel Engineering (beam). Bills of materials, for example, can be filtered for particular objects via the module number, e.g. only for Steel Engineering beams, or only Sheet Metal parts, or only purchased parts.

Data model
The data model is important if you use data reduction. If a part is completely reduced (i.e. with all of its sub-parts) Reduced (complete) will be shown. If not all sub-parts of a part are reduced, Reduced (incomplete) will be shown, and Exact for non-reduced parts.

During reading in of drawing files, faulty parts will be internally reduced to a polyhedron model and saved as "reduced" parts. The value Simplified will be assigned to such parts, the value Exact will be assigned to the other, correct parts. In the part structure, "reduced" parts will be marked with the symbol.

BOM-relevant
Parts which are to be displayed in a bill of materials, must be defined in HiCAD as BOM-relevant parts. If you use the PDM system HELiOS at the same time, this identifier will be automatically given to the part during assigning of the article master.

Item number
Shows the item number of the active part.

Article number
Shows the article number assigned in HiCAD to the active part. (if you work with HELiOS, the assigned article number will be shown at T_Sachnummer). Please note: If you assign the Article number attribute to a part, this article number will be shown instead of the part name in the part structure .

Designation 1 / 2
These attributes will be assigned automatically, depending on the corresponding part.

Part type
When inserting catalogue parts such as beams, bolts, nuts etc., the part type will be assigned automatically. If desired, you can also use your own names, e.g. if you want to sort BOMs by part names. Assigned part types are shown in the part structure in curly brackets after the file name.

Unit of quantity
Shows, for parts managed via HELiOS, the corresponding entry in the article master (Unit of quantity attribute). If desired, you can also assign a unit of quantity to a part while working without HELiOS. This unit of quantity will then also be transferred to generated BOMs.

Coating, internal/external
Here you can enter individual descriptions of the coating, e.g. raw, painted, zinc-plated.

Qty. per part
Will be considered for BOM creation, amongst other things. For example, the value is automatically set during insertion of boltings (Number of boltings). For "normal" parts the default value is 1.

Weight
Shows the weight of a part.
