HELiOS Options > Print / Convert
The Print tab of the HELiOS Options window you have the possibility to configure the behaviour of the dialogue window for printing documents.
Print documents (Spooler)
HELiOS Options > Print / Convert
These settings refer to the dialogue window for printing of documents via the HELiOS Spooler.
Print immediately if input unambiguous: If this checkbox has been activated, no extended dialogue window with further options will be displayed if all inputs concerning the document are unambiguous, i.e. if the document has not been assigned to a particular folder that would have to be specified for printing, the Print dialogue window will be skipped and the print job will be immediately passed to the HELiOS Spooler.
Sheet areas:
- Offer sheet area selection: A view selection will be offered in the Print dialogue. As soon as several views exist, you need to select at least one for each document in the dialogue.
- Print all sheet areas: If this option has been chosen, all views of a document will be printed; there will be no selection options.
- The additional option Include model area is relevant if you work with a CAD system (such as HiCAD or AutoCAD) that makes a distinction between model and drawing area. If this option is not activated, all sheet areas of the drawing are transferred when the print jobs are transferred to the Report Manager. If this option is activated, the model area is also transferred.
- Print sheet area which was active when saving the drawing: If this option has been chosen, the selection option will be skipped and the current state of the CAD drawing will be printed.
Final check for linked articles:
- Must be located in the same selected project as the document to be printed: If this checkbox has been activated, the print job can only be sent if the document and the linked article(s) are assigned to the same project.
- Must be located in the same selected folder as the document to be printed: the print job can only be sent if the document and the linked article(s) are assigned to the same folder.
- Must have been selected if available: If one or several linked articles exist for the document, at least one must be assigned to the print job before it can be sent.
Notes document:
- Document must be explicitly selected if a notes document for it has been created or accepted: In some cases you may not want documents with created or accepted notes documents to be printed. If you activate this checkbox, notes documents in the Print dialogue will be marked as such, are excluded from printing, and will only be printed after their explicit selection.
File name for neutral format:
Here you can set a predefined attribute mapping that is used when generating the file name for the neutral format export.
If further attribute mappings have been created in addition to the standard setting, you can select one from the pull-down menu:
A click on Manage... in one of the the pull-down menus opens the Attribute mapping for generating file names dialogue window, allowing you to create new mappings or edit existing ones.
These settings only apply when printing as file, e.g. when outputting PDFs via the Spooler.
Print result lists
HELiOS Options > Print / Convert
If the Restart Report Manager for each print job checkbox has been activated, a new Report Manager window will be opened for each print job (already opened window will remain open); otherwise, the result list will be passed on to an already opened Report Manager for printing (the previous data will be overwritten), or, if none has been opened yet, one will be started.
Convert documents

You can use the three checkboxes under Final check for linked articles to ensure that the following criteria are met in detail when transferring linked articles by activating them:
- Must be in the same project as the document to be converted
- Must be in the same folder as the document to be converted
- Must have been selected if available
In the pull-down menu next to Generated file name, you can also set an attribute assignment for the conversion, as for the output of neutral formats via the Spooler (see above).
