Change Route - Connecting Guideline

Plant Engineering > Pipeline Tools > Change > Change route

It can happen that the straight segments of a pipeline are not sufficient for shifting the point that is to be moved to the target point. If that is so we distinguish between two cases.

  1. The target point is an unoccupied connecting point
  2. The target point is not a connecting point

The target point is an unoccupied connecting point

If the target point is an unoccupied connecting point, you can use the Create connecting guidelines checkbox in the dialogue window. If you activate this checkbox, the Change route function will suggest a sequence of guidelines to reach the target point.

On this guideline the exact position of the cursor influences the target point:

Thus the behaviour is displayed as follows:

Being able to select the direction at the connecting point facilitates subsequent modifications. As an example, an obstacle of this kind (1) could be found in a drawing:

If you choose route (1) the subsequent editing would be more difficult than if you choose e.g. route (2). This route could be edited as follows:

In the example above a second fixed point has been placed at the vessel's flange of the vessel.

The target point is not a connecting point

If the target point is not a connecting point it is not possible to modify the proposed guideline. This is the default setting.

In both cases you can deactivate the creation of connecting guidelines. To do this, deactivate the Create connecting guidelines checkbox in the dialogue window This is the default setting.

The length of the connecting guideline is oriented by the minimum length.
