Change colours

Individual

Changes the colour of individual surfaces. This is also recorded in the Appearance entry of the feature log. For each surface of a part to which a particular colour has been assigned, a Facet with parameter sub-entry indicating the assigned colour will be created in the feature log.

The Appearance feature log entry

In this way it is ensured that the colours of facets/surfaces will be preserved in case of feature recalculations.

Please note:

  • If you double-click the Colour feature log entry, the Colour menu will be displayed, enabling you to reset the colour of the surface/facet any time: If you click the Backbutton instead of a colour, the colour will be restored to the original colour, i.e. to the colour of the part to which the surface/facet belongs. The feature log entry will be changed to Colour: Not set.
  • Alternatively, you can reset the colour by selecting the Change surface colour... function once again, clicking the Back button and identifying the desired surface/facet. Please note however that in this case the reset surface/facet will be removed from the Appearance feature; if the feature contained only this surface, the entire feature will be removed.

Same as reference surface

Applies the colour of a reference surface. First identify the surface the colour of which you want to apply. Then specify the surface to which you want this colour to be applied.

The functions do not change the default setting for the surface colour. The following options are available for changing the default setting:

  • Selecting the surface colour in the Surface/Line/Edge Parameters menu. This setting applies temporarily to the current HiCAD session.
  • Changing the default colour in the Configuartion Editor at >System settings > Visualisation > 3-D > Default colour, surfaces. This setting, however, does not take effect until you re-start HiCAD.

This function, too, will be recorded in the Appearance feature log entry.

Set hatching

Hatches surfaces of the active part.

Deletes hatchings of individual surfaces.

Hide/Show (shaded)

Hide, individual

Hides individual surfaces of shaded parts.

Show, individual

Re-displays hidden individual surfaces.

Re-displays all hidden surfaces of the active part.

Others

Optimise part

Enables the approximation, optimisation and triangulation of 3-D parts.
