Model and Process Parts
You will find the functions for the modelling and processing 3-D parts, e.g. Transform, Bore, Boolean operations etc., in the 3-D Standard tab or in the context menu which you activate by right-clicking a part (in Object snap mode).
You can apply the processing functions both to individual 3-D parts and – to some extent - to part lists. A part list here is a temporary grouping of several 3-D parts for the purposes of processing them in one step.
One part of the drawing is always the active part. This part is displayed in red in the part structure display of the ICN. The HiCAD processing functions of the toolbars usually refer to this part, unless a part list is active. Dimensionings and texts inserted into the drawing, for example, are also always assigned to the active part.
Many functions allow multiple selection of parts. The desired parts are combined temporarily into a so-called part list and can then be processed, e.g. transformed, in one step. All parts in a part list are highlighted in colour, both in the ICN and in the drawing.
The following function groups for the modelling and processing of parts are available on the 3-D Standard tab:
- Standard Parts
Insertion of fasteners, shaft elements, boltings, weld seams etc. - Process with sketch
Insertion of bores/subtractions, adding of sweep bodies, cutting of parts into segments - Standard Processings
Insertion of bores and threads - Process
Creation of fillets, chamfers, walls, envelopes, scaling etc. - Transform
Moving, rotating, mirroring, scaling etc. of parts - Clone
Copying of parts via transformation - Tools
Insertion of crosshairs, changing of part properties, e.g. colour, material, layer and other attributes, working with selection and modelling sets, exploded views, simulations, optimisation and approximation of parts. - HCM
Assigning of HCM constraints (parameterisation) to 3-D parts
In addition, you can find the Exchange 3-D Part function in the Insert Part function group of the Drawing tab.
Please note:
- Before you select a processing function, you need to choose the part to be processed or define a part list.
- The current identification mode which you choose via the Transparent toolbar using the Object/Element/Group snap function also determines which elements are processed. The default setting is Object snap.
- Various functions for the processing of parts can also be accessed via the context menu for parts. To activate the context menu, right-click a part.
