Project: HiCAD Profile Installation

Drawing Derivation

You have the option to automatically derive drawings from a profile installation. To make this function available , you need to set up this function once.

Itemisation

First, itemise your drawing using the functions in the Itemisation/Detailing function group of the Drawing Ribbon tab.

What's different about the itemisation of profile installations is that parts which differ with regard to their mounting can still be identical with regard to their shipping. For instance, this is the case when lengths are adjusted using the Length optimization function. Therefore, profiles receive, in addition to their "normal" item number, a so-called "Dispatch item number" taking this special property of profiles into account.

The assigning of this special item number can be controlled via the Configuration Editor.

Creation of a derived drawing

Then, choose Drawing > Itemisation/Detailing > Drawing derivation. In the Part selection field, activate only the Assemblies, Railings checkbox. Confirm with OK.

The derived drawing will be created on a new drawing sheet. For each layer of the profile installation an individual drawing will be created.

The representation of the drawing observes the rules that are common in this industry: The profiles are displayed as uncut contours. Profiles that are placed next to each other, are contained in the same package (or all in no package) and have the same length will obtain a diagonal marking with a text block containing information on these parts. By default, this is the designation of the part, its length and its item number. This text block can be modified if desired.

Furthermore, each layer contains a part annotation that contains by default the name of the installation, the name of the layer, the item number of the layer, and the surface of the layer (ignoring inserts). This annotation, too, can be adjusted.
