Change Representation
Steel Engineering > Further functions > Change representation, individual
You use this function to switch the representation of individual beams and profiles from exact to simple or vice versa. Proceed as follows:
Identify the desired beams.
Clicking the arrow below the function opens a pull-down menu containing further functions.

This calculation tool enables you to perform beam-specific calculations. |
Please note:
- Switching between different representation types is only used for viewing/checking whether any collisions can occur etc. If you switch between representations while constructing, this can cause problems, especially if external references have been activated in feature technology.
- The Change representation, Exact <-> Simplified function starts from the assumption that the first feature in the feature log is the part creation feature. Only then can the function change the type of representation and recalculate it. For parts which have been created via Design Variants (e.g. Purlin joint 1204) the corresponding creation feature is already embedded in the feature of the Design Variant. Parts which have been created via API variants (e.g. Railing Configurator) do not have a creation feature. Therefore, parts that have been created via Design Variants or API are not supported by this function. If you try to change the representation of such parts via this function, HiCAD will issue an appropriate message and highlight the affected parts in your drawing.
