VRML

VRML stands for Virtual Reality Modelling Language and is the Internet term for a 3-D standard in the World Wide Web, which companies such as Microsoft and Netscape have already joined. HiCAD 3-D files can thus be received directly by Internet users and viewed in different views.

The HiC VRML interface generates a WRL file. This can be viewed directly in the Internet Explorer if a corresponding plugin is installed. Examples are the Cosmo Player and the Player from Blaxxun. If the player is installed, it is started automatically when opening the WRL file with the Internet Explorer.

After calling the function, select the desired file type VRML (*.wrl).

On the right side of the dialogue window you can set export options.

These settings can be preset in the Configuration Editor at Interfaces > General 3-D interfaces or Interfaces > VRML. Via the symbol Apply parameters from Configuration Editor, the default specified in the Configuration Editor can be set at any time.

  • Polygon points per quadrant: Enter the number of polygon points (at least 2). The default setting is 6.
  • Via distance tolerance: Enter a tolerance in the Distance field (Default: 0.1) .
  • Via distance tolerance with minimum number: Enter a tolerance in the Distance field , and the minimum value in the Polygon points per 3-D quadrant field.
  • Via distance tolerance with maximum number: Enter a tolerance in the Distance field , and the maximum value in the Polygon points per 3-D quadrant field.

Make the desired settings and specify the path and name of the export file. When you exit the window with OK, the VRML file is generated with the settings you have made.

Besides the above mentioned plugins there are several others. Which ones are available and which ones are freeware can be found on the internet. The plugins are not part of HiCAD and are not supplied by the ISD.
