Usage Assignment for Own Part Types

Usage assignments cannot only be defined for assembly and part types provided by the ISD, but also for freely definable part types.

To determine an assignment for a freely definable part type, proceed as follows:

  1. In the Configuration Editor, go to Automatic drawing derivation > Production drawing > Usage assignment. Set your cursor in the desired group, e.g. Steel Engineering.
  2. Click on New. This creates a new row within the current group.
  3. For Usage select All.
  4. For Part type enter the name of the type that you want to create, e.g. Series.
  5. For Usage-dependent settings select the entry New usage settings.

The name DEFAULT(Series) will be suggested. If you want to copy the settings from an already existing configuration, e.g. ASSEMBLY_BEAM, activate the checkbox and select the configuration.

Confirm with OK.

  1. The new usage setting will be entered in the Usage-dependent settings field and will be immediately visible in the structure tree of the Configuration Editor:

Click on the Apply button to finalize the adding of the new part type.

  1. You can then adjust the configuration called Default(Series) to your individual requirements.

Thanks to the possibility to define own part types you can, for instance, use own drawing derivation configurations for Steel Engineering series beams that are based on 2-D cross-sections. Click here to view an example.
