Representation Functions (3-D)

Views > Representation

There are different representation options available for views. They range from the glass model to the hidden line representation, right through to the virtually photo-realistically shaded model.

(1) Glass model, (2) Hidden Line, (3) Hidden Line dashed, (4) Shaded with edges, (5) Shaded without edges

Active view

Shaded + Hidden Line

Shades the parts of the active view. The visible edges are displayed. "Gouraud" is used as the shading method. If there is no setting of the shading parameters, material file M_HiCAD and Parallel lighting from the front is assumed. The edges are displayed according to the currently set edge model parameters.

Apply shading setting of view

Applies the shading setting of any view to the active view. Identify the view the shading of which you would like to transfer.

Shaded representation

Use this function to change the representation of threads for the active view and to switch panorama mirrorings on or off. When you call the function, the Shaded representation dialogue window will be displayed.

  • Thread

Here you can choose whether threads are to be displayed with a thread texture or transparent by activating the preferred option.

Outer thread - with thread texture (left) and transparent (right)

  • Mirror panorama

HiCAD offers the option to simulate environments. For this purpose a panorama is assigned to a Sheet or Model area. The surfaces of shaded models can then mirror this panorama, i.e. the environment. Use the Mirror panorama checkbox to activate or deactivate environment mirroring.

All views

Glass model

Displays all views of the current drawing as a glass model. This is also the case for hidden views.

Hidden Line

Selects the Hidden Line representation for all views of the current drawing, also for hidden views.

Hidden Line dashed

Selects the Hidden Line dashed representation for all views of the current drawing, also for hidden views.

Shaded representation

This function corresponds to the same-named function beneath Active view, with the difference that it affects all views of a model drawing.

If different parameters for shaded representation have been assigned to the views of the model drawings, this will be indicated by a symbol in the Shaded representation dialogue window:

When you move the cursor over the symbol, the message will be displayed:

Others

Exploded view

This function allows a largely automatic generation of exploded view drawings.

Delete exploded view

If the active view is an exploded view, use this function to delete it. The exploded view will then be converted back into a "normal" view.

You can also find this function in the context menu for views at Representation > Others.
