Geometry Functions (2-D)

2-D Geometry

Points and graphical elements are the smallest units of a 2-D drawing. These elements are combined into main parts and sub-parts and saved in a drawing. You use the geometry functions to create and process these elements.

To identify graphical elements and points, place the cursor near the element you want to identify, and left-click while holding down the CTRL key (LMB+CTRL). Identified will be the graphical element with the smallest distance to the cursor position. This also applies to circles or similar elements. Point options shown next to the cursor (e.g. I for end point) or the sketching grid will be ignored when you use LMB+CTRL.

To identify the last graphical element, activate the 2-D point option with a double-click or the RETURN key, and select the Input via keyboard point option. Then enter LL.

You can identify genuine isolated points in the same way. If the isolated point is located on a graphical element, e.g. if the end point of a graphic element coincides with the point, you must use option I for identification.

You access the 2-D geometry functions via the 2-D Geometry tab of the Ribbon. If the element snap is active, the context menu containing the line corrections from this toolbar is displayed if you right-click an element.
