Naming of Points (2-D)

2-D Geometry > Tools > New point > Point ID

This function enables you to assign

• a name (e.g. to identify a point in the macro) or
• an ID (e.g. fitting point of a part)

to points (e.g. start and end points of lines or isolated points) as fitting points or reference points. The name consists of a four-digit figure.

1. Use a point option to identify a point to be named.
2. Specify a name or the ID for the point.

To display the name or the ID, selectDrawing > Others > Visualisation > Designation.

Fitting point ID for symbol insertion

You require an ID for the symbol reference point or for inserting parts.

The following fitting point IDs are allowed for symbols:

• ! or !* The symbol is inserted into the drawing in its natural size and position,
• ? or ?* You can additionally insert an angle of rotation,
• ?? or ??* You can specify an angle of rotation and a stretching or reduction factor.

The corresponding queries for angles of rotation or stretching factors are executed in the user dialogue when inserting symbols. The symbols for which an exclusion area is to apply to all graphical elements are marked with an asterisk * in the fitting point ID. Otherwise, only those graphical elements that lead exactly to the symbol reference point are cut with the exclusion area.

Fitting point ID for part insertion

The fitting points for parts are defined by identifying up to three different fitting points. This defines the type of transformation, which can be a moving, a rotation, a combination of both, a similarity or an affinity transformation. During insertion, you then need to specify the points to which you want the saved fitting points to be transformed. You may also need to enter angles of rotation and stretching factors.

As with the symbols, the fitting points are also named with a ! or one or two ?.

The possible fitting point IDs are

• ! The part is imported in its original size. During insertion, the cursor will be attached to the point with the point number "!". The specification of the fitting point on the part will not be required.
• ? During insertion, an angle of rotation is prompted for
• ?? During insertion, angle of rotation and stretching factor are prompted for
• !1 and !2 A part with two fitting points is scaled and rotated during insertion
• !1 and !2 and !3 A part with three fitting points is distorted

If the inserted part contains dimensionings, the dimension figures are changed during the insert operation in line with the new size of the part. Texts are preserved in their original size.
