Symbol Table (2-D)

The graphical representation of the symbols is defined in the symbol table. The symbol table is structured like a drawing, with its parts representing the symbols.

By default, HiCAD makes the symbol table SYMTAB available via the system path Z:. You do not need to have a symbol table in main memory to place symbol points. For graphical representation, however, you need to load the system table.

Load symbol table

Drawing > Properties > Attributes > Symbol table, Load

The Load symbol tablefunction enables you to assign a symbol table to a drawing . The symbol points that exist or are to be inserted in the drawing are assigned a graphic structure. Only the symbol number and the symbol reference point are saved in the drawing, not the geometry of the symbols. If main memory already contains a symbol table, it is overwritten when a new symbol table is loaded without a relevant warning being given.

Unlink symbol table

Drawing > Properties > Attributes > Symbol table, Unlink

This function deletes a symbol table that is in memory. When a new drawing is loaded, the standard symbol table is re-loaded.
