A HiCAD drawing consists of various drawing objects. These
are:
Main
parts and sub-parts (2-D or 3-D) Parts are divided into main parts and sub-parts to create a meaningful
part structure. This part-oriented data structure enables you to
create drawings the logical structure of which matches the part structure of real products. Before you start your drawing, it is therefore
advisable to consider the product structure and create the main parts
and sub-parts of the drawing accordingly.
Assemblies The assembly is available as a further component type in 3-D.
An assembly is a dummy part with isolated points and a special ID.
An assembly consists of exactly one main part – the so-called assembly main part - and the sub-parts assigned to this part.
Main assemblies HiCAD distinguishes between part drawings and assembly drawings in 3-D design. Assembly drawings ensure considerably
more efficiency in referencing, itemisation and Bills of Materials creation. A so-called
main assembly is automatically generated, with all subsequently
generated 3-D assemblies, main parts and sub-parts being subordinated
to this main assembly.
