Catalogue Update

The program CatalogueUpdate.exe is available in the HiCAD EXE directory for updating catalogs. This program is started automatically during a HiCAD update installation if this has been activated in the Extended settings of the installation. However, it can also be started manually if catalogs are to be exchanged between customers.

Source	For automatic updates the source is preset. If the program is started manually, then the source is to be selected as follows: for a HiCAD Update: \Program64\de-de\hicad3.cat\Kataloge on the DVD or in the ISO file of the update. in case of a HiCAD Patch: \de-de\hicad3.cat\Kataloge on the DVD or in the ISO file of the patch. For foreign language installations, replace de-de with the corresponding language abbreviations, i.e. en-us (English) fr-fr (French), it-it (Italian), pl-pl (Polish).
Target	Path of the catalogues to be replaced. The field is filled in automatically. Manual entries in this field are not possible.
Settings	Here you specify the settings for the update by activating or deactivating the checkboxes. Please note that the activation of the Retain user settings option is possible, but generally not recommended. If you have activated this setting, some tables may not be displayed correctly. If required, check the log file.
Versions	Before update In this field the version of the catalogue directory is displayed. After update The current HiCAD version is detected via the Registry and is displayed in this field. Manual entries in this field are not possible.

Important:

The version of the utilized catalogue directory will be checked upon HiCAD start. If the catalogue directories are old there is a risk that HiCAD will search for catalogue entries which do not yet exist in the old catalogues. One example of this are the Textures that were integrated in the catalogue some time ago. If these are missing in the catalogue, you will have no access to these textures in HiCAD.

If you start HiCAD with an older catalogue directory (e.g. HiCAD 2020.1 with Catalogue 2020.0, a message will be displayed:

Please note:

When performing updates of catalogues (these are supplied and also changed by the ISD Group), only files will be updated (on a string level). Assignments of the catalogue entries to HELiOS will not be affected.

Some catalogue attributes, e.g. table columns, can be changed by the user, others not. Modifiable attributes are are all user-defined columns.

Changed rows will be identified accordingly (with MOD for "modified"). If the user has applied a change to a row, the corresponding row will not be updated when the next catalogue update is made. This means that all values, and the entered article number, will be retained in this row.
As a simultaneous Catalogue Update from different clients can cause damage to the catalogue, you should only perform one update at a time. If the user starts another update, an appropriate message will be issued and the catalogue will be left unchanged.
Name and version of the catalogue directory are shown in the caption of the dialogue window of the Catalogue Editor.
