Classification of Articles and Documents

For structuring purposes, Documents and Articles can be subdivided into different classes and sub-classes. This allows a targeted selection matching the search criteria specified by the user. The search can be further restricted by the hierarchical structure.

Such criteria can, for instance, be the material or the dimensions of a part, or production-relevant criteria such as production methods, dimensional and positional tolerances or surface properties. Furthermore, the classification of documents and articles allows a standardization of products while reducing part variety at the same time.

In the detail mask of an Article or a Document to which a class has been assigned you can open an additional class tab with information on the class attributes of the object can be opened:

This works only for classes to which a mask has been assigned.

Classes with masks are marked with a yellow dot in the bottom left corner of the class symbol, classes without masks have no yellow dot:

Please note:

In the HELiOS Options on the General tab you will find the sub-menu Classification. Here you can control for documents and articles whether the classification of the corresponding object type is available to the users. If it is deactivated, the call for the class explorer, the respective button for class selection when creating, editing or deriving a document or article, the possibility of class selection in search windows and the context menu function for classification in the HELiOS interface are hidden for the respective object.
