HELiOS URL
In the context menus and detail windows of documents, articles, folders, projects and user-defined types you will find the menu items Copy HELiOS URL and
Show ID.
Similar to the Hypertext Transfer Protocol (HTTP) or the File Transfer Protocol (FTP), you can also set links to HELiOS documents from other applications and documents in a system with HELiOS installation.
You can copy the link to a document or component to the clipboard by choosing Copy HELiOS URL in the context menu (right-click) of the corresponding detail window.
The corresponding link itself consists of the call to the protocol "HELIOS://" and the Head ID of the corresponding HELiOS document or article.
When a HELiOS URL is called up by external software, the HELiOS protocol can also be used to refer to a document number, article number, folder number, project number, pipe class name or user-defined types such as Material and Customer.
Example of the link for a document with the Head ID "B007ZDX0X1BVKH00002XL7": HELIOS://B007ZDX0X1BVKH00002XL7

Please note:
- Please note that the URL syntax of HELiOS versions older than HELiOS 2024 (V 2900) is no longer supported due to the revision of the functionality as of this version. Any URLs saved from earlier versions (in documents, bookmarks, etc.) can therefore not be reused and must be manually replaced with URLs in the currently valid syntax in order for the call to work again.
- Optionally, for existing revision indices, you can also call a specific index of a part by appending the Rev ID with a - (minus sign) in between. To find out the Head ID and Rev ID of a document or a article, right-click the corresponding result list or detail window and select
Show ID.
- Some browsers and applications may initially block the immediate linking to the HELiOS protocol, caused by particular safety pre-settings. In such cases, a message may appear, asking you whether you really want to allow the access.
