Variant Editor for Plant Engineering
Plant Engineering > Part Data Tools > Variant Editor
Important:
Since Version 2012, HiCAD has been using the format .VAA for Plant Engineering variants. As of Version 2013, general variants, too, can be created in this archive format.
As of Version 2013, the previous Variant Editor, ANVAREDIT.EXE, is therefore called VariantenEditor.exe.
For Plant Engineering variants created with HiCAD 2012 or higher, and for general variants in the :VAA format please use only this new Editor.
For older variants, the previous functionality of the Variant Editor is still available, but under the name VAD_Editor.EXE.
The Variant Editor for Plant Engineering is used to edit value tables in variants (.VAA, .VAD) created with HiCAD. In addition, new variants can be derived from existing variants, which then differ from the original variant in the content of the value table and in the name. The files belonging to the variants are processed automatically.
A particularly wide range of part variations is possible when deriving new variants from structured base variants. Here, for example, portions of parts can be simply switched on or off at the push of a button, variable values of one portion of a part can be adopted for another, and much more.
Data records of variant value tables can be imported - in whole or in part - from other variants or text files; any assignments between the columns of the source table and the target table can be set. The mapping can also be done automatically based on the variable names that form the column headers.
The Variant Editor also offers the possibility to export the value table of a variant in the form of a text file.
The Variant Editor can be started directly from HiCAD, but can also be called independently of HiCAD.
