Itemisation

Drawing Management > Parts > Item.

The itemisation of parts, i.e. the assigning of item numbers to them, is a prerequisite for drawing derivation and the generation of BOMs.

With the function Automatic identical part search and itemisation, with current parameters you automatically assign item numbers to BOM-relevant parts. In the process, the parameters specified with the Change itemisation parameters function will be used.

The other function can be found in the pull-down menu that you open with a click on .

The itemisation functions on the Drawing Management tab are largely identical to the same-named functions on the Drawing tab, they do however offer some additional features and advantages:

• The model drawing, in which a part has been itemised via Automatic itemisation and identical parts search, will be linked to the part. If the part is contained in other model drawings via referencing and will be automatically itemised there, the part will be ignored, i.e. the item number will not be changed.
• If a part that is managed via Drawing Management is contained in a model drawing via referencing, and the referencing is updated, the item number will only be marked as "changed" if the part was also itemised in this model drawing. Otherwise the part will not be identified as a changed part, i.e. the item number will not be set as a negative number.
• If a part was automatically itemised in another model drawing (i.e. it will be ignored when itemising in active model drawing), and is now to be itemised in the active model drawing, you need to delete the item number of the part before itemisation. This will also delete the itemisation-related link of the part.

 

	Automatic identical part search and itemisation, with current parameters Use this function to automatically assign item numbers to all parts. The current parameter settings for itemisation will be used.
	Automatic identical part search and itemisation, change parameters Queries the parameter settings and then assigns the item numbers.
	Automatic identical part search and itemisation of individual parts, with current parameters Use this function to manually assign item numbers to individual parts.
	Change itemisation parameters Changes the default settings for itemisation. The new settings will then be regarded as default settings during the current HiCAD session.
	Select parts with same item number Finds and selects all parts that have the same item number as the identified part.
	Select part with specified item number Finds and selects all parts with a specified item number.
	Delete item numbers, Part Deletes the item number of individual parts. Item numbers of the sub-parts of identified part are retained.
	Delete item numbers, Part + Sub-parts Deletes the item numbers of individual parts. The item numbers of the sub-parts of an identified part are also deleted.
	Delete item numbers, All Deletes all item numbers of all steel engineering parts.
	Switch to standard itemisation used since HiCAD 2018 With this function, itemisations created in the Itemisation up to HiCAD 2017 mode can be converted to the new standard itemisation.

If you want to perform the itemisation using one of the above-described functions, please make sure that the option Re-itemise new + changed parts has been set. This is the default setting.

 

Please note:

• The parameter Itemisation of locked parts that had been set in the Configuration Editor at PDM > Drawing Management will be taken into account during itemisation. This parameter determines how parts with the HELiOS status Released, which are locked against processing, are to be handled. Possible settings are:

Yes

Released parts will be considered for itemisation as well.

No

Released parts will not be itemised.

Only manually... (Default)
Only parts with manually assigned article masters will be considered.

Only auto...
Only parts with automatically assigned article master will be considered.

If, for example, you selected No, all released parts will be excluded from itemisation, and the following message will be displayed:

 

• Designation tags of sub-parts, bores and connections located on the rear side of the main beam can be indicated as such by a different line type. This setting will be specified in the file STAB3DPAR.DAT (HiCAD SYS directory). The default setting for each parameter is 3.

• To find parts within a defined range of item numbers, use the shortcut CTRL+F or the Find function in the ICN. Activate the Item number checkbox and enter the desired range of numbers (e.g. 200 - 500). In addition, you can use the part filter to find certain item numbers.
• When performing the automatic itemisation, HiCAD also carries out an identical part search. Identical parts will obtain the same item number. In this way, all identical parts will be combined into one single item in the BOM. HiCAD will create only one part detail drawing of identical parts, and identical parts will only appear once in workshop drawings. Whether a part will appear at all in a BOM is determined by the status of the attribute BOM-relevant in the Part attributes mask (and not by the mere existence of an item number).
• For drawings that were created and processed with the functions on the Drawing Management Ribbon, the Item number field in the Part attributes mask will be greyed out.
