The Guideline Tools function group provides all kinds of functions for the creation and processing of guidelines.

Please note that the Work with guideline mode must normally have been activated if you want to use the Guideline Tools functions. If this is not the case, a corresponding message will be displayed:

If you click Yes, the Work with guideline mode will be activated in the Plant Engineering Settings and the function will be continued immediately.

The following functions are available:

Functions

Create guideline

With this function you create a guideline as a 3-D sketch. The Sketch polyline function is then started automatically.

Further guideline functions can be found in the sub-menu of the function:

	Fit insulation Adds an insulation to the active guideline.
	Delete insulation Deletes all insulation components of the active guideline.
	Display insulation Displays a dialogue box with the insulation data specified for the active guideline.
	Specify nominal pipeline section diameter Allows you to specify different nominal diameters for guidelines within a pipeline.
	Assign guideline remainder to another pipeline Divides a guideline and assigns the part of the guideline from the division point to its end or start to another pipeline.
	Create dummy guideline part Creates an initially empty guideline part. This is useful if the course of the guideline is not to be drawn with the corresponding Plant Engineering functions, but with the general 3-D guideline functions Sketch tab).
	Copy guideline Copies guidelines and assigns them to any pipeline.

Sketch polyline

This function allows you to add more lines to a guideline. If no guideline is active, you are asked to select a guideline. Otherwise, the function works like the 3-D function of the same name.

In the sub-menu of the function you will find further functions for editing of guidelines. These functions are identical with the 3-D sketch functions of the same names.

	Fillet
	Chamfer
	Close corner
	Lengthen/Shorten edges/lines, to surface/line/point
	Lengthen/Shorten edges/lines, by value
	Trim to point

Draw guideline (only via end points)

In contrast to the Create guideline function, here you only specify the end points of the guideline. Both axially parallel and non-axially parallel connecting points are permissible.

In the sub-menu of the function you will find further functions:

	Create guideline Starts the former Guideline Editor.
	Lengthen guidelines (only via end points) Lengthens an existing guideline.
	Merge guidelines (at end points) When creating and processing guidelines, the situation may arise that one pipeline contains two or more guideline parts whose end points lie on top of each other. With this function such constellations can be found and the corresponding guidelines can be merged.
	Process guidelines Allows you to process guidelines using the former Guideline Editor.

AutoPlace parts on guidelines

Automatically places defined parts on a guideline. In the sub-menu of the function you will find another function:

AutoRoute guidelines and AutoPlace parts

Automatically creates a guideline with up to three intermediate points and optionally assigns elbows, straight pipes, flanges, etc. to it.

Guideline, Delete individual 3-D edges

Deletes individual, still empty, sections of a guideline. In the sub-menu of the function you will find further functions:

Delete lines and fillets, with Close

Deletes lines that are connected to another line at both ends and extends the adjacent lines to their common intersection. Additional options are available for fillets.

Delete guideline

Deletes entire guidelines that are still empty.

Many of the processing functions for guidelines can also be accessed via the context menu. You open the context menu with a right-click on a guideline. Furthermore, you can also use the 3-D C-Edge (Sketch) functions on the Sketch tab to process guidelines.
