Templates for Excel BOMs

HiCAD is supplied with elaborate templates for the export of Bills of Materials (BOMs). Of course, you can modify these templates (e.g. by adding your company logo), or even create your own templates if desired.

You can find the templates in the form of XLSX files and the corresponding RMS files in the HiCAD SYS directory of your HiCAD installation. Other templates, also in other languages, as well as copies of the supplied original templates, can be found in the SYS\BOMTemplates folder. You can copy these to the SYS folder to use them afterwards.

The following templates are available:

HiCAD_Blech.rms (Quantity list with Designation, Development length, Development width, Thickness, Material, Surface area, Weight and Total weight)

HiCAD_Mechanik.RMS (Quantity and Structure list with Unit of quantity, Name, Designation, Weight and Comment)

HiCAD_Metallbau.RMS (Quantity and Structure list with Designation, Width, Length, Cut (Web), Cut (Flange), Material, Name, Surface area, Weight and Total weight)

Please note:

The contents that are written into BOMs are taken from the current HiCAD catalogue. Therefore, a German HiCAD installation, for example, will even write the part type "Blech" (=German for "Sheet/Plate") into the BOM if the BOM template is in English.

If you want to create your own BOM, you need to take an existing template as a basis for your template: Create a copy of a suitable template (of both the XSLX and the RMS file) and give it a name. You can then select this new template in the Report Manager: Select Settings > Change. In the Settings dialogue window, open the Export - Microsoft Excel tab and activate the Use template checkbox and select the file in the Structure/Quantity list or Quantity list field.
