Foils and Insulations (Metal Engineering)

Metal Engineering > Metal Engineering, 2-D > Foils

If you click the icon below Foils in the Metal Engineering, 2-D function group, a pull-down menu with functions for the insertion of foils, sealants and insulations appears:

In the dialogue window that appears when you call the function, specify the Type (i.e. main part or sub-part), the Foil thickness and the Length factor. If desired, you can also enter a Radius, the Direction (Automatic, Centred or External), and select a Colour (default: Black).

Confirm with OK. First select the Direction of the foil by identifying a corresponding geometry in your HiCAD drawing. Then, select the start point of the foil, followed by the end point, or several intermediate points if the guideline for the foil changes its direction several times. Click the MMB to end foil insertion.

Creates a joint with sealing cord, the procedure is identical with that of the Sealant/Foil function.

In the dialogue window that appears when you call the function, specify the properties of the part.

In the dialogue window that appears when you call the function, make the specifications for your insulations.

You can enter the dimensions of the insulations (Hatching height, Width, Start thickness, End thickness) as values or pick them in the drawing via mouse-clicks.
For insulations you can choose between Soft and Hard representation.
Identify two line elements and one point for insertion of the insulation (Width, Start thickness, End thickness).

Foil, central reference

Corresponds to the Foil, outer reference function but applies the foil to the composite edge centrally.

Foil, outer reference

In the input window that appears when you call the function, first specify the thickness factor and the stretch factor, select the type of the reference element (Individually, In rectangle or Polyline) and identify it . The foil will be applied, with external reference, to the selected element.
