Example 1 - Expand Drawing / Generate Revision Index (ManBIM)

The following paragraphs are meant to illustrate the functions Expand drawing and Revision index of a production drawing.

Use the last example model drawing. All drawings have been released!

Let us assume that you want to add another beam with bores to your model drawing.

No separate detail drawing is to be created for this beam. Instead, you want the beam to appear in the detail drawing generated for the assembly with item number 1.

Proceed as follows:

  1. First, insert the new beam.On the 3-D Standard tab, select Standard Processings > Through hole, variable (3-D) to insert the three bores.
  2. Itemize the model drawing and save it.

  1. No separate detail drawing is to be created for the inserted new beam. Instead, you want to assign the beam to the detail drawing for the assembly with the item number 1. The assembly, however, is currently locked against processing, because it has already been released. Now continue as follows: Therefore, switch to the Management + BIM tab again and select ... Change > Revision index of a production drawing . Mark the assembly with item number 1 and click OK.

  1. HiCAD will then prompt you to enter the text for the revision index. After closing the dialogue window, the assembly drawing will be marked with an "in progress" note, and the revision index will be automatically incremented from a to b.
  2. Choose Drawing > Itemise . In the same function group, choose Save .
  3. Now assign the new beam to the selected assembly drawing. Select the ...Drawing > Drawing > Expand - Selection via HELiOS function.

Next, select the beam ("Without drawing" link) and click OK. Then, select the assemblies with the Item No. 1 and click OK again.

The drawing will then be updated immediately.

  1. The drawings can now be released again.
