Transfer Product Structure
Transfer product structure
The changing of an assembly by adding, deleting or modifying its components requires an updating of the product structure.
Use the Transfer product structure function to synchronize the first level of the CAD structure with the HELiOS product structure.
When you select the function, a dialogue window will be displayed that shows the part structure in the CAD system on the left hand side, and the product structure in HELiOS on the right hand side. After synchronization, all changes will be highlighted:
On the left beneath Part structure from CAD you can see the part structure of the active article, and on the right you can see the HELiOS Product structure.
You can now transfer the first CAD structure level. The green markings of the parts in the left window mean that these articles do not yet exist in the product structure.
To transfer the product structure, click on the buttons with the blue arrows.
In the HELiOS product structure area of the window, the updated product structure will then be displayed.
Please note that only one level of the product structure will be transferred. To transfer a second level, proceed likewise: Mark the sub-part above or below the previously transferred level and call the function. If there are differences between the two structures, the affected entries will be marked:
An added, new article will be marked with a symbol. New articles that have been transferred (1 level) from the left side (CAD) to the right side (HELiOS) and synchronized, will be marked with a
on the right side.
Click OK to save the modified product structure.
An article that has already been transferred to HELiOS via product structure synchronization and was deleted from the HiCAD drawing afterwards will be marked in the HELiOS product structure as missing when you call the product structure synchronization dialogue again. After a renewed structure transfer from HiCAD to HELiOS, the article will be removed accordingly.
If item attributes were changed on the HELiOS side, these will be marked with a symbol in the HELiOS product structure.
The arrow button at the bottom of the dialogue window (Assign selected CAD item to selected HELiOS item) allows you to manually assign the usage of a particular part in the CAD drawing to the corresponding item in the product structure when performing the CAD - Database synchronization - for instance, in cases where the item number has been changed by a PPS system and is therefore no longer suitable for synchronization purposes.
For this to happen, the same article needs to be marked on the left hand side (HiCAD) and the right hand side (HELiOS) of the window. After clicking the button, the usage link between both sides will be created.
If newer indices exist for any items, this will be indicated in the part structure window
.
To edit the HELiOS product structure, open the Utilized items tab on the right hand side of the lower part of the window.
The "cad" attribute of an item in a product structure indicates that it was transferred from a CAD program (e.g. HiCAD) to HELiOS. In case of a renewed synchronization of the CAD part structure with the PDM product structure, the CAD-relevant links will be identified accordingly and the attribute values of new, deleted or changed items will be determined automatically.
The offered context menu varies depending on whether it was called on an item attribute or an article attribute. Generally, the Utilized articles and Utilized items tab offer the same range of functions as in the HELiOS Desktop.
