Batch Import (Models)

With the Batch import (Models) function, you can import a large number of files from a directory to HELiOS with a few clicks using a selection dialogue.

A dialogue window opens when you call it.

Clicking on opens the Explorer selection dialogue for files, and clicking on opens the dialogue for the contents of an entire directory.

Click on to make a file (multiple) selection in Windows Explorer, or on to select a folder in the file system whose contents are to be imported completely.

Confirm with OK. The import window will list all SOLIDWORKS files (.SLDASM/ .SLDPRT/ .SLDDRW) in this directory.

Alternatively or additionally you can use the button to select a text file from the file system in which file paths are listed.

The prerequisite is that the corresponding files are listed line by line in the text file (whose exact file extension does not matter) with complete and correct system path and file name.

These are transferred to the batch import dialogue after the file has been selected.

Please note:

By marking lines and clicking on you can remove individual files or a multiple selection from the listing.

An Check in automatically of the documents to the HELiOS database can be done optionally, if the corresponding checkbox at the top of the window is active. If it is not selected, there is no automatic check-in of the files.

In addition, parts that are changed and set in process during the process are also checked in with "checked in". when the import for the drawing is complete.

You can use the checkbox Clear workspace automatically to control whether the affected files should be removed directly from the workspace after the batch import has been performed. This option may be useful if repeated loading of the same parts into the workspace affects the general performance. Documents that are already in the workspace at the time of import are not affected by the clearing procedure.

Confirm with OK. All files listed in the window are transferred completely, i.e. including all referenced documents and drawings to HELiOS, created as documents and articles and automatically linked.

The function New in HELiOS runs in the background and its settings are used.

The standard number generation of HELiOS is used for this process. Documents that have already been transferred are also recognized.

During this process, you see a status display with the option to cancel.

After the import process, you are asked whether you want to view a log. If you click Yes, this log (SolidworksImportResult.log) will be opened in the Notepad.
