Session Concept

SOLIDWORKS components are loaded via HELiOS, as copies from the Vault Server, into a local session.

In the Vault Server, all documents are physically stored as files and encrypted. Access is only possible via the HELiOS Database.

The local session is a directory on the local computer of the user, which ensures quick access to the CAD data.

In a session, there are two ways of saving a file. In the session list, this will be indicated by different colours:

Access to the current, valid document in the Vault is always controlled via HELiOS. The files in the local sessions are always copies.

If the file entry in the session is green, you can be sure that there is no newer state in the Vault.

A document which is marked green may differ from the Vault state if it has not yet been saved to the Vault Server by the user. It will only be available as a current, valid document in HELiOS after saving it to the Vault.
