System Colours, Special Colours

So-called System coloursare - like the Drawing colours - edge and surface colours with various optical properties. In contrast to the Drawing colours, however, they are not saved with the drawing, but are loaded according to the current system settings. This means that they may differ when using the same file on various computers.
Special coloursare the colours used for special elements on the screen, e.g. the cursor or the different object markings.
Use the appropriate tabs to specify the settings for System colours and Special colours. On the Object colours tab you can expand or collapse the display of all current Drawing colours or System colours using the 
and 
icons.
System colours and Special colours can be saved as FRD files for a later re-use. The default settings for System colours and Special colours are defined in the WorkstationColors.FRD file. When loading a drawing for the first time or when creating a new drawing (as of Version 2008), the System colours and Special colours defined in this file will be used.
The WorkstationColors.FRD file is located in the directory C:\Users\xxxx\AppData\Roaming\ISD Software und Systeme\ISD 20xx\Material. (you can also access this folder by entering %AppData%\ISD Software und Systeme\ISD nnnn\Material in the address bar of the Windows Explorer and pressing the ENTER key (nnnn = Version number).
The ISD default settings are stored in the WorkstationColorsDefault.frd file.
Change System colours/Special colours
- To change a System colour, activate the Object colours tab and click the . icon to expand the System colour selection display. If you want to change a Special colour, activate the Special colours tab accordingly. To change the name of a colour, double-click the required colour item and enter the new name.
- Now specify the settings under Optical properties and Colour.
- After having specified your settings, you have the following options:
- Exit the Colour Editor with OK. In this case, the current settings for System colours/Special colours will be used for all currently loaded drawings. Furthermore, they will be the default settings for all drawings which are processed during the current HiCAD session. When exiting HiCAD, however, these colour changes will not be saved.
- Save the current System/Special colours for a later re-use. Use the functions provided by the System/Special colours menu for this purpose.
Manage System colours/Special colours
To load or save a colour file with System/Special colours, click the System/Special colours item on the menu bar of the Colour Editor and select Save. The current system/special colours will be saved to the WORKSTATIONCOLORS.FRD file in the HiCAD SYS directory.
