In the Configuration Editor you can specify different settings for itemisation, namely, at
Settings for the Itemisation up to HiCAD 2017
The pre-settings for the old itemisation (up to HiCAD 2017) can be defined at Compatibility > Itemisation up to HiCAD 2017.
The settings specified here are the pre-settings for the dialogue window of the itemisation up to HiCAD 2017.
- Geometric identical part search
Here you can specify, by activating the required checkboxes, which components are to be taken into account for geometric identical part search. - Itemisation, individual parts
Here you specify the pre-settings for manual itemisation. - Itemisation control
In this area you - specify the general settings for the itemisation,
- determine whether parts are to be immediately referenced during automatic itemisation,
- specify whether HiCAD part attributes and HELiOS article attributes are to be considered for identical part search.
- Item numbers
Here you specify the start number and the sorting for item number assignment. - Updating (this setting applies to the standard itemisation as well)
- Set change mark when changing parts
If this checkbox is dactivated, HiCAD will always re-itemize all parts. If this checkbox is activated, item numbers of modified parts that have already been itemized will be marked either with an asterisk * or by a colour representation (depending on the settings in the ICN), i.e. in {5*} or 5. - Existing item number during insertion
Here you specify how existing item numbers are to be handled during insertion of parts.
The parameter settings for Updating also apply to the new itemisation mode Standard itemisation since HiCAD 2018. Please read the information given at the bottom of this page!
Settings for itemisation
The settings for the Standard itemisation since HiCAD 2018 can be found at System settings > Itemisation.
Please note that the Itemisation up to HiCAD 2017 will end with HiCAD 2020. This means that the Itemisation up to HiCAD 2017 is no longer available from HiCAD 2021 onwards.
Switch to new standard itemisation
Use the Configuration Editor to define the procedure for starting the itemization in a model drawing that still uses the itemization up to HiCAD 2017. To do this, open the Configuration Editor and choose System settings > Itemisation > Switch to 'Standard itemisation used since HiCAD 2018'.
The following options are available here:
- Never
No message or query will be displayed. This means that the itemisation up to HiCAD 2017 will still be used. - Optional
A message will be displayed, informing you that the itemisation up to HiCAD 2017 will still be used.
You then have the option of determining whether or not the itemization should be converted to the standard itemization. To Cancel the itemization function, use the same named option.
- Mandatory
Here, too, the message will be displayed, informing you that the itemisation up to HiCAD 2017 will still be used.
Here, however, you only have the possibility to change to the standard itemization with OK or to Cancel the itemization function.
The default setting is Optional.
Default settings
For the standard itemisation the parameter settings will be loaded from a Favourites file. By default, settings for Mechanical Engineering, Steel Engineering and Plant Engineering have been predefined. Which of these Favourites will be used depends on the settings specified in the HiCAD Parameter configuration dialogue window. You can also create your own Favourites files within the itemisation function and select them as defaults in the Configuration Editor.
The ISD default settings can not be overwritten by the user. These are locked for editing and marked with 
in both Manage favorites and the Configuration editor. In order to change and reuse these settings, they must be saved under a different name. In case of an update, the existing default settings can be prescribed by ISD and/or further settings may be added.
If no Favourites file has been selected, the following message will be displayed when you call the automatic itemisation function:
In this case, the settings must be specified via the functions Drawing > Itemisation/Detailing > Item. 
> ... with options or Drawing > Itemisation/Detailing > Item. > Change parameters.
Missing Favourites and/or adequate settings can lead to undesirable results.
Update item text
The new parameter Update item text set the time for updating item texts:
- After each change (as predefined by ISD) or
- After itemisation.
The setting After itemisation is useful if you work with large drawings and attributes from superordinate assemblies are used in the item texts. In this case, the setting After each change may have a negative effect on performance. Please note, however, that the setting After itemisationhas the disadvantage that it is not possible to recognize whether an item text is invalid.
The settings specified at Compatibility > Itemisation up to HiCAD 2017 > Updating also apply to the Standard itemisation!
If you want to use this mode, please remember the following:
- It is recommended to activate the Set change mark when changing parts checkbox. If the checkbox is deactivated, only part groups with Unregulated number assignment may be defined in the Itemisation with options dialogue window.
- For the parameter Existing item number during insertion you need to select either the settings Delete or Change mark. The other settings will not be supported in the itemisation mode Standard itemisation.
