Itemisation of identical parts
Identical parts can be itemised:
- consecutively for the entire drawing,
- within assemblies of the drawing or
- for the active assembly (=active part and sub-parts). In addition, you can also specify the number of sub-part levels to be taken into account here.
In the Configuration Editor at Compatibility > Itemisation up to HiCAD 2017 > Geometric identical part search whether all parts are to be taken into account for (geometrically) identical part search.
If the Also compare geometries of general 3-D parts checkbox is deactivated, only the geometries of Steel Engineering parts will be compared. All other parts will initially be regarded as "geometrically different" and will therefore obtain different item numbers. If the part attributes comparison has been activated in the itemisation settings and the article number has been selected in the list of attributes to be compared, all parts with the same article number will obtain the same item number. This is the case after a copying of parts, even if individual parts are modified afterwards. If, however, the parts are referenced, an identical part search is carried out during referencing, and parts with different geometries will obtain, due to the referencing function, different article numbers. A subsequently performed itemisation without geometry comparison will then deliver the desired result. This means that if you want Sheet Metal parts or other non-Steel Engineering parts to be always compared geometrically during identical part search, you need to activate the checkbox.
Consider for identical part search
Here you specify the conditions to be taken into account for identical part search.
- Part attributes
If this checkbox is active, the settings of the Part attributes for identical part search are considered. If desired, you can use the Configuration checkbox to change these settings.
- DB article master
If this checkbox is active, the article attributes for HELiOS are created automatically during itemisation, with the settings of the Article master attributes for Itemisation being considered. If desired, you can use the Configuration checkbox to changethese settings.
In addition, you can also use the Part assignment button here to specify filters for generating the article attributes. This allows you to determine that the article attributes are only generated for parts that fulfil certain criteria, e.g. all plates or only beams of a certain material.

Consider for geometrical identical part search
Here you specify which components are to be taken into account for geometrically identical part search.
- Boltings
If boltings are to be considered, activate this checkbox. - Production type for bores (workshop, site...)
If you want the production type of bores to be taken into account for identical parts search, activate this checkbox. In this way you can, for example, deactivate mounting holes during output to NC programs. - Weld seams
If you want weld seams to be taken into account, activate this checkbox. - Powder marking lines and punch marks acc. to DSTV
If you want powder marking lines and punch marks to be to be taken into account for DSTV-NC export, activate this checkbox. Powder marking lines and punch marks affect the interpretation of "identical parts". Activating this checkbox increases the number of item numbers. Please note that the itemisation of your model drawing needs to be up to date for DSTV-NC export.
- Mathematical tolerance for facet comparison
In this field you can specify a tolerance for identical part search. Default value is 0.001. This means that two points are regarded as identical if their distance is less than one hundredth millimetre.
