Check part structure
The part structure of a pipeline in 3-D Plant Engineering is subject to certain rules which must be respected to ensure an error-free execution of the processing functions.
You can use this function to check the structure of individual pipelines or all pipelines. The check can also be executed automatically after loading or before saving of a layout plan.
- Check active pipeline
If an error in the structure is detected, an appropriate message is issued. For some error types, an error log can be displayed. - Check all pipelines
If an error in the structure is detected, an appropriate message is issued. If you double-click a line in the error list, the associated part will be highlighted in the graphic and the ICN (you can also mark a line in an error list by a left-click and then click Show.)
The displayed error list is located in the file \hicad\temp\PipelineStructErr.txt. HiCAD identifies the associated parts via the numeric values contained in this list.
Check nominal diameter matings
The active pipeline is examined to see if any parts with different nominal diameters have been joined. If any invalid nominal diameter matings are detected, the appropriate parts are marked.
This function is available for an individual pipeline as well as for all pipelines of the current drawing
.
This marking is not removed until execution of the Redraw function. If an invalid nominal diameter mating is not detected, HiCAD issues an appropriate message.
Check pipe lengths
When you insert a straight pipe in the drawing, it is internally noted whether this part only exists in a specified length or if it can be cut to fit. If it can, the valid maximum length is also recorded. Some functions, e.g. Move points, can change the length of pipe parts in the drawing.
When you select the Check pipe length function, the distance between connecting point 1 and connecting point 2 is detected, either for all pipe parts of a pipeline or all pipelines of the current drawing
. If length values do not match, HiCAD differentiates between two cases:
- The new pipe part length is accepted and the part inserted: Whereby the noted length is updated by the new value.
- As the length pipe part is invalid, it is not inserted: The appropriate part is marked.
In addition, an appropriate message is issued.
Check nominal diameter of part
This function enables you to check whether the nominal diameters of parts belonging to the selected pipeline match the nominal diameter assigned to the pipeline. HiCAD highlights the parts that deviate from the given value. This marking is only removed after the Redraw function has been executed.
If no nominal diameter has been assigned to the pipeline, the check is not carried out and HiCAD issues an appropriate message..
