Place Pipe Parts on Guidelines


In flow direction / Against flow direction

Plant Engineering > New > Pipe parts > ... > In flow direction / Against flow direction ,

  1. Select the guideline on which you want to place the part. The Local CS is aligned appropriately.
  2. Select the part from the Selection dialogue box that appears on your screen..
  3. First, select a reference point from the Reference Point menu, then pick Connection 1 or 2 or a point on the line between both points. The part hangs with the specified reference point on the cursor.
  4. Select an insertion point within the selected guideline. Use the right mouse button to select the origin of the local co-ordinate system as the insertion point.

HiCAD inserts the part on the specified position on the guideline (c-edge), and automatically divides the edge on the connecting points of the superimposed part. The new edge, hidden by the part, is set on Layer 0.

  1. After insertion, the Rotation angle dialogue window appears on your screen. Rotate the part into the required position. The selected guideline has been pre-set as the rotation axis.
  2. Respond to the query (same part ...) with Yes, if you want to insert further parts on the originally selected guideline, or select Cancel to exit the option.
  3. You can now either select another guideline and insert a part, or press the MMB to end the function.


Connect part

Plant Engineering > New > Pipe parts > ... > Connect

  1. Select the required part from the selection window displayed on your screen.
  2. Select the connecting point (1 or 2) from the Reference Point menu on the connection surface of the part.
  3. If you invoke the Select connecting point option, you can use the Autopilot and point option J to snap the connecting point on the start or end of the selected guideline on the connection surface to which you want to attach the part.
  4. After insertion, HiCAD displays the Rotation angle dialogue window. Rotate the part into the required position. The connection surface vector has been pre-set as the rotation axis.

HiCAD automatically divides the edge on the connecting points of the superimposed part. The new edge, hidden by the part, is set on Layer 0.

  1. Respond to the query (same part ...) with Yes, if you want to insert further parts on the originally selected guideline, or select Cancel to exit the option.
  2. You can now either select another guideline and insert a part, or press the MMB to end the function.
