Further Shading Functions

Drawing > Others > Extras > Tools

On the Drawing tab, select Others > Extras > Tools to open a pull-down menu with further shading functions.

Reshade 3-D part
Reshades the active part. This can be time-consuming for complex parts as the internal approximation for the shading is recalculated.

Reshade 3-D drawing
Reshades the entire drawing. The internal approximation for the shading is recalculated. This can be time-consuming for complex drawings!

Shade back faces
Defines how the back faces of surface parts (parts with free surfaces) are handled in shading:

  • shade in surface colour
  • do not shade
  • shade in another colour. Here, the next colour number is used automatically from the colour table used for shading.

Left: In surface colour • Middle: In another colour • Right: No shading

Mesh fineness for FFS
This function is used to set the representation of freeform surfaces to a specific exactness. The value indicated here is particularly taken into account in approximation and shading of freeform surfaces. The smaller the value, the more exact is the representation, for example, of a shaded freeform surface. The greater the value, the faster the shading is performed. The default setting is 0.1.

This function also has an effect on the number of parameter lines in m- and n-direction!

Please also note the Surface approximation function that you access via Drawing > Properties > Drawing attributes. Use this function to determine the number of polygon points for 3-D quadrants. This setting is, for instance, used for polyhedron approximations and the shading of 3-D models. The higher the value, the more precise will be the shading. However, please note that the file size will also increase!
