New Part

2-D Part > New

HiCAD drawings are composed of many different elements which are in turn grouped into structured items. These are referred to as Parts. This part-oriented data structure enables a creation of drawings whose logical composition corresponds to the part structure of real products. In addition, you are enabled to create a Bill of Materials - even without database.

The functions for part creation and part structure modification can be found in the New function group of the 2-D Part tab. Alternatively, you can access these function via the ICN: Right-click an item and select the desired function from the context-menu.

	Main assembly	All main parts and sub-parts existing in the drawing are automatically subordinated to this main assembly.
Pull-down menu Main assembly
	New main part	You create the new main part by entering the name. It is displayed in the ICN and is automatically active.
	Main part, from active drawing	This function copies a part from the active drawing, together with its sub-parts. Select the part you want. Specify one fitting point on the part and one in the drawing. You can insert the part more than once or right-click to end the function. In the ICN, the copies are displayed with the same name as the original.

	New sub-part	Entering the name creates the sub-part and subordinates it to the active part. You can then use the 2-D Geometry functions to draw.
