Project: HiCAD Plant Engineering

External Attributes

When inserting Plant Engineering parts into a 3-D layout plan, HiCAD does not only save the links of the part to the corresponding data record in the part data source (HELiOS database or HiCAD catalogue), but also copies the attributes (names and values) from the data record and saves it to the part in the layout plan. The advantage is that the attribute data are now also available, e.g. for a BOM, if the drawing is loaded on a workstation that has no access to the part data source from which the attribute data originate. These "external" attributes can also be used in isometry BOMs and text objects.

If you use these external attributes in isometry BOMs (pipe part lists, length lists, weld seam lists), you are now enabled to determine the designation of a Plant Engineering part not only via the HELiOS catalogue entry (attribute %DBAT(BENENNUNG), but also directly via the corresponding external attribute (%TA($01)), or its nominal diameter via TA(DN1) instead of %DBAT(NENNWEITE).

An overview of the HiCAD attribute names can be found in the Catalogue Editor (CATEDITOR.EXE) in the HiCAD EXE directory: Select Catalogues > System Settings > System attributes.

The option to use external attributes plays an important role for the annotation of accessory sets in isometry BOMs, as such accessory parts are no "real" parts in the drawing, and therefore do not have any links to HELiOS catalogue entries. In addition, this function is important for the semi-automatic setting of KKS numbers.
