Tab: Weight Calculation (3-D SE)

Steel Engineering > Further functions > Settings

You can specify the precision of the weight calculation for beams and plates in steel engineering construction on the Weight calculation tab.

The settings are stored in the file STB_Parameter.DAT (SYS directory) and can also be edited there. This file also allows you to configure whether you want metal plate waste to be taken into account in weight calculation, and if so, how many square meters the surface has to be before it is subtracted from the total surface.

Clicking OK applies the settings of all tabs and ends the function. The current settings will be the new default settings until HiCAD is closed.

The pre-settings shown after HiCAD start are specified in the Configuration Editor at Steel Engineering > Weight calculation and Steel Engineering > Default material, respectively.

When you select Exact weight calculation, the roll and bend radii of standard beams in simplified representation can optionally be considered as allowances. to do this, activate the corresponding checkbox.

For Steel Engineering plates you can additionally specify here whether the cutting waste is to be considered for weight calculation and if so, from how many square meters onwards the surface area is to be subtracted from the total surface area.

The default material needs to be determined by the table ID and the row ID here. For the material S235JRG2 this means: Table Materials > Steel > Structural steels = Table ID 1, , row ID = 4

The table ID is shown in the status bar of the Catalogue Editor, the row ID in the "ID" column.
