Edit Symbol (P+ID)

P+ID > Symbol > Edit symbol

Use this function to edit the data of a symbol. During edition, please note possible automatic actions and the redirection of dialogue texts to comment dialogues.

When you identify the required symbol, HiCAD displays the HiCAD displays the Edit symbol dialogue window.

Text is automatically assigned to some dialogue types. If the dialogue text exists, text entries for edited dialogues are not automatically changed.

The window shows the corresponding symbol library of the symbol and its type.

The new Symbol version is a 32Bit integer value initialised with 0. After each saving of the symbol via the Library Symbol Editor, a time ID will be assigned to it according to UTC (Coordinated Universal Time). This means that library symbols now distinguish themselves not only by their library names and symbol names, but also by their version ID

The left column of the list shows the alias from the dialogue type definitions. If a dialogue type is included in the data mask several times (only Comment and Connection dialogue types), a number in parenthesis will be added automatically. If the column contains the code number of a dialogue type only and not a text, it is not yet included in the central definitions (see Dialogue type definition).

For dialogue types of the type "Comment" or for user-defined dialogue types you can take over the database attributes of the linked part.

Important:

In the case of drive and gauge symbols, edited entries for Plant code and Plant unit dialogue types are only retained until the superior symbol in the data mask is changed. Subsequently, entries are automatically taken over by subordinate drive and gauge symbol. In the case of drive symbols, this also applies to the Aggregate dialogue category.
As entries for Plant/Plant unit and Plant/Plant unit/Aggregate are always automatically generated, they should not be edited.

If you delete an entry for Plant code, Plant unit, Insertion location or Function, the appropriate entry is automatically taken over from the title block symbol of the active sheet.

Either click OK to take over changes in the symbol data mask, or Cancel to abandon the function.
