Save Library Symbol (P+ID)

You use the following functions for the saving of library symbols:

Save library symbol in the P+ID Symbol tab and
Save as library symbol in the P+ID tab

Save library symbol

P+ID Symbol > Symbol > Save library symbol

This function enables you to save a library symbol to a pre-determined group in the given symbol library.

Proceed as follows:

Select the required target library.

If a symbol with the given name is not yet contained in the library, HiCAD immediately displays a graphic of the selected library, and expects you to select the group to which the symbol should be assigned.

You can either select the group with the cursor or press the right mouse button and choose the Group selection via name option.

HiCAD then displays a magnified view of the selected group.

If a symbol with the same name is already contained in the library, HiCAD first asks if you want to overwrite it. Respond with No or Cancel to end the function. If you respond with Yes, then the following actions are taken. A graphic of the selected library appears on your screen. The group to which the symbol is assigned is then magnified until it fills the entire screen. The symbol is then deleted from the group. You now need to relocate the symbol in the group by specifying a new position for the symbol fitting point.

If you respond to the query:

Position of symbol OK?

with No, you can reselect a group and reposition the symbol in it. If you respond with Yes, HiCAD immediately saves the symbol and closes the library. The symbol then appears on your screen for further processing.

Save symbol as library symbol

P+ID > Symbol > Edit > Save as library symbol

Use the new Save as library symbol function to save a symbol from the loaded P+ID as a library symbol to a symbol library. After its selection, the symbol will be loaded into the Symbol Editor, and the symbol dialogue mask will be opened. Here you can change, for example, the symbol name.

After confirming with OK you will be prompted to specify the target library.

After saving, the Symbol Editor will be closed, and the P+ID will be redisplayed.

When you select the symbol with the Edit symbol function, the changed data (e.g. library name, symbol name, symbol version) from the target library will be displayed. The symbol version will be shown with a new time ID.

Important:

You CANNOT use Undo for this function, as the target library has been changed!
