Beam from Sketch (ME)

In Metal Engineering you can, just as in the 3-D Standard or Steel Engineering modules, use sketch technology to fit LogiKal beams and profiles via sketches.

When creating a 3-D sketch, please note that the distance from the sketch to the coordinate system will be a crucial factor for the later position of the fitted beam. The beam will be fitted with the same distance to the xy-plane that the sketch has to the origin of the coordinate system. The beam axis is always located in the coordinate origin. Sketches appear in the feature log, where they can be loaded and processed. Further notes on working with sketches can be found in the Online Help chapters for HiCAD 3-D and HiCAD Steel Engineering (Fitting of beams with sketches).

Example:

  1. In your drawing, select an appropriate area to create a sketch for the facade.
  2. On the Metal Engineering tab, select LogiKal 3-D > Facade/Insert with sketch.
  3. In the LogiKal dialogue, select the required facade. After completion of the entries the facade will be generated as a HiCAD 3-D part.
  4. Select the fitting point of the facade (e.g. „RMB – RMB“, in order to place the facade on the sketch).
  5. Afterwards you can correct the position using sectional or detail views.
