Bent Pipes on Guidelines (PE)

Depending on the type of the composite edge, straight pipes might be auto-transformed to bent pipes. If a composite edge includes a succession of edges containing one or several circular arcs, but no corners, a bent pipe will be placed onto this composite edge.

Example:

In the above example two composite edge corners were transformed to circular arcs by means of the Fillet entire guideline function.

If you now apply the Pipe parts function to the still empty guideline sections, select the part type Straight pipe, and the insertion type Set all, the bend pipe (between the two flanges) will be created automatically.

The lengths of bent pipes according to BOMs or part information are always the lengths of the centre lines of pipes.

The Exchange parts function can be applied to bent pipes as well. You can choose which straight section of the pipe is to be replaced by a new part. In the bent pipe shown above, you could, for example, replace the straight pipe in the middle by a T-piece. Two new pipes will then automatically be attached to the T-piece:

When inserting a single bent pipe, you can specify a value that is smaller than the length of the succeeding edges suitable for a bent pipe. If the bent pipe is to run in edge direction, starting from the first empty edge in edge direction, select the option In edge direction and identify this first edge.

In the Pipe length dialogue window, deactivate the Automatic checkbox and specify the desired length.

If the bend pipe is to start at the last empty edge (in edge direction), select the option In opposite edge direction and identify this last edge.

If the length of the succeeding edges suitable for a bent pipe exceeds the supplied length, the complete bent pipe will automatically be composed of segments whose maximum lengths will each correspond to the supplied length when the option Set all is selected.

If two segments converge in a circular c-edge arc, HiCAD can currently not place a weld gap there.
