Freeform Surfaces: Overview of Functions (3-D FFS)

The functions for the generation and processing of freeform surfaces can be found on the 3-D FFS tab.

Function groups

From c-edge

Creates a freeform surface by

  • moving a curve along a vector,
  • rotating a curve about an arbitrary axis,
  • placing cross-sections on guidelines or
  • projecting an already existing c-edge onto an arbitrary plane.

Via connection

Creates a freeform surface by

  • connecting the boundary curves of 2 solids or surface parts,
  • connecting 2 composite edges/curves or
  • connecting a curve to a point.

From c-edges

Creates a freeform surface by

  • connecting cross-sections,
  • interpolating a curve mesh or
  • derives it from a polyline frame.

From boundary curves

Use this function to

  • close gaps and holes with patches,
  • derive freeform surfaces from planar curves or
  • close surfaces taking inner cycles into account.

From surface

Enables you to create offsets of freeform surfaces and copy surfaces.

Process

Use this function to process or shape freeform surfaces.

Delete

Use this function to delete surfaces.

Transform

Use this function to copy and transform surfaces.

Settings

Enables you to define the representation of freeform surfaces, e.g. colour or mesh representation

Before generating a freeform surface, create a new drawing or load an existing one.
