Scale-(In)Dependent (2-D)

Scale-dependent

2-D Part > Properties > Part attributes > Scale-dependent

The default setting for all parts is scale-dependent. In other words, if the drawing scale (main scale) changes, the part scale also changes. If you have a part containing text, the geometry (lines) changes, but the text stays the same. A scale-independent part does not change its scale in line with the main scale. To change these parts again with the main scale, choose this function. The next time you change the main scale, the part will also be changed.

Scale-independent

2-D Part > Properties > Part attributes > Scale-independent

The default setting for all parts is scale-dependent. In other words, if the drawing scale (main scale) changes, the part scale also changes. If you have a part containing text, the geometry (lines) changes, but the text stays the same. A scale-independent part does not change its scale in line with the main scale. The default setting for drawing frames is scale-independent. If, for example, you create a table as a part, it makes sense to set this part to scale-independent, as the font could otherwise protrude from the columns.

  1. First select the part and then the function.
  2. Identify a fixed point.

The fixed point marks the position of the part after a change of scale in the drawing. If the scale of the drawing is now changed, the part retains its original scale.
