Save Drawing (PDM in HiCAD)

In the Save as... menu you will find various functions to save documents (also HELiOS-related documents):

If you have already saved the document, click the Save drawing

icon to cache the drawing. The drawing will then be saved under the current file name.

Without article master

Use this function to save the current drawing to the database without creating an article master.

This procedure is identical with the New drawing with database, without article master function. The only difference between these functions resides in the fact that with this function, an existing drawing is taken over to the database, while with the other function a newly-created drawing is taken over to the database.

With new article master

This function enables you to save the current drawing to the database and create an article master. A link between the article master and the document will automatically be created.

This procedure is identical with the New drawing with database, with new article master function. The only difference between these functions resides in the fact that with this function, an existing drawing is taken over to the database, while with the other function a newly-created drawing is taken over to the database.

Assign article master

Use this function to save the current drawing to the database and assign an existing article master to it. A link between the article master and the document will automatically be created.

This procedure is identical with the New drawing with database, assign article master function. The only difference between these functions resides in the fact that with this function, an existing drawing is taken over to the database, while with the other function a newly-created drawing is taken over to the database.

If you save a drawing with article master to the HELiOS database, a Part<-> Drawing link between the drawing and the article master will be created by default. You may as well select a different link for this process. The underlying link is specified in the HiCAD variable. Use the Configuration function in the HELiOS Desktop to change it.

As modified drawing

Select this function if you want to create a modified drawing with a new, traceable revision index. The master data and the graphic with the previous index will be set to invalid and will be archived. The new version of the article or the drawing will obtain a new index and will be set to active. In this way, the complete life cycle of a part or a drawing can be recorded and tracked back via its revision indices.

After calling the function the Create index dialogue will be opened. It consists of the Document (the document master data mask) and the Index tab (where you can enter a comment on the modified drawing in the Index text field).

When you click OK, the HELiOS document of the model drawing will be saved with a new index.
