Part and Assembly Functions (Product Structure, HELiOS in SOLIDWORKS)

In the Product structure tab of the Helios Info Centre, you can right-click to open a context menu with various functions for the corresponding element:

Function Decsription

The so-called top article is the article the structure of which is to be displayed.

If you want to change a product structure, you need to lock the object first. A locked object will be marked green. After editing, you can release the object again using the End assembly editingfunction.

The assembly will be unlocked again, and the changes will be saved.

The assembly will be unlocked again, but the changes will not be saved.

Use this function to call the structure of the marked product in the Editor.

Shows the structure of the marked product.

Creates a copy of the assembly with a new article master.

This function enables you to show the usage attributes of the item in the product structure.

Use this function to change the usage attributes (e.g. Quantity per item).

This function enables you to add new articles or articles from the database and to assign usage attributes to the parts.

This function can only be used if you have reserved the object beforehand.

New item (Find article) enables you to add articles from the database via the part search mask; use the New item (Enter article) function to add articles via the part input mask.

Both functions enable you to specify in the usage attributes window whether the part is a spare part or not.

To view a usage attribute of a part, mark the part and select the Show item function. To change an usage attribute of a part, mark the part and select the Change item function.

Use this function to load an old index of the part.

Use this function to call the article detail window with all editing functions.

This function enables you to display the 1st level of the subordinate articles parts of the assembly.

This function enables you to display all subordinate articles of the assembly.

This function detects all parts (including the relevant assembly) with non-released indices.

Use this function if you have modified the product structure. You can either update all data or marked data only.

The Update, All function allows a data synchronisation with the database. Modifications you made elsewhere will also be added.

This function enables you to edit the entries in the product structure.

You have the following options for the Output of the product structure as a Bill of Materials (BOM):

  • via the Report Manager: You are enabled to configure the BOM, assign various sorting criteria and export to different formats, e.g. Excel, HTML. A detailed description can be found in the Online Help for the Report Manager.
  • ReportManager in new window: During product structure export to the Report Manager, an additional window can be opened, thus enabling a comparison of several product structures.
  • In new document: A new document will be created, and the document will be saved there as a RM3-file. The document input mask will be displayed.
  • In existing document: This function enables you to update data in an existing document. The document search mask will be displayed.

When you activate this function a dialogue will be displayed, in which two product structures are juxtaposed.

Further information on product structures and configuration can be found in the general Online Help for HELiOS.
