Database Location

In accordance with the current Microsoft guidelines, the database file will not be placed within the HiCAD installation directory during a HiCAD standard installation, but, for Windows 7, in the following location:

C:\ProgramData\ISD Software und Systeme\HiCAD 2011\HiCAD.cfgdb

For Windows XP, C:\ProgramData is to become %ALLUSERSPROFILE% , or for German Windows XP, respectively, C:\Dokumente und Einstellungen\All Users\Anwendungsdaten.

The location of the database file will be in the windows Registry (HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\ISD Software und Systeme\HiCAD\1700.0\CfgDbPath). In the Configuration Editor it can be moved, via Tools > Database Location, to another directory, if desired with copying of the current database to the new location.

When updating an installed version with increments, please note that such increments will not update the database file in the default directory. In this case you either need to copy the updated database from <HiCAD installation location>\Configuration\HiCAD.cfgdb, or switch the database directory to this folder.
