Load STEP File

> Open > Step, Iges..

To load a STEP file in HiCAD,

click the ISD Button and select Open > Step, Iges..., or
activate the Drawing tab and select New/Open > Open > STEP, IGES....

In the Open dialogue, select the file type STEP (*.stp, *.step) and the required STEP file.

In the Open dialogue window you can, as soon as you have marked a .stp file, deactivate the Convert FFS to analytical surfaces checkbox on the right hand side, if you do not want HiCAD to convert the freeform surfaces to analytical surfaces (this may make sense for sheet metal parts).

If you activate the RepairTool checkbox, advanced repair and correction functions will be executed, enabling an optimised import of STEP files of lower data quality (if this option is greyed out, you may have no valid licence for the Repair Tool, which requires separate licensing).

name.PRI	the STEP protocol file
name.LOG	the LOG file
name.MPR	the Meta File Protocol. In this file, HiCAD-specific values are assigned to the received data.

Please note:

You can also select your own configuration file for the Repair Tool (the default system file, StepRepair.cwc, is located at [SYS\CADFIX\DEFAULT\IMPORT] of your HiCAD installation directory). .
Parts in 3-D CAD formats (Step, Iges, ...) to be inserted in HiCAD will be opened in a new drawing that will be automatically created especially for this purpose.
You can also load STEP files via the HiCAD Start Centre.
