Process Blank (3-D SM)

Sheet Metal > Sheet development > Update

The Update pull-down menu in the Sheet development function group provides functions for adjusting sheet developments, setting parameters and performing a circular arc analysis.

Functions Description Examples

Adjust, Active sheet

Use this function to update the development of the active sheet after changes to the sheet part or the default settings.

Pull-down menu Update

Adjust, All sheets

Use this function to update all developments in the drawing after changes to the sheet part or the default settings.

Parameters

You use this function to define the blank parameters of the developments created using the Develop sheet function. In the dialogue window, click the checkboxes for the parameters which you want to be shown in the blank.

If you want to specify the angles, you can choose between Bend angle and Aperture angle. Additional texts can be activated for the positive and negative angle.

Bend angle and bend radius can only be shown if the bend line is active.

Bend lines can be represented either as one continuous line or two short lines at the start and the end at the bend edge. Position, length, distance to outer contour, line type and colour can be set in the ABWCOL.DAT file. Positive and negative bend lines can be configured independently of each other.

If you activate the Tools option, the WZNR (tool number) from the corresponding catalogue column will be displayed in the development if the sheet has been processed with a punch tool.

Activate the With sub-parts checkbox if you also want them to be shown.

Only one dimensioning option is used for Dimension outer contour.

Once you have clicked OK to confirm your entries, the selected parameters are applied to new and existing blanks.

Please note:

  • To display the allowance method in the development, you need to change the relevant setting in the ABWPAR.DAT file as follows:

Abwicklungsverfahren auf Schicht an 2D-Abwicklung ( -1: kein Eintrag, 0...999 -> Schichtnummer )

[Development method on layer for 2-D development (-1:no entry, 0.999-> layer number)]

  • To display the bend angle for all segments of an interrupted bend line in the development, you need to change the relevant setting in the ABWPAR.DAT file as follows:

Bezeichnung der Biegelinien an längste(0) oder alle(1) Kanten einer unterbrochenen Biegelinie

[Designation of bend line on longest(0) or all(1) edges of an interrupted bend line]

Acute corner

You use this function to simplify a development with the aid of the zoom function.

  1. Use two diagonal points which enclose the contour corner to be simplified to define a zoom window.

This area is now displayed enlarged.

  1. Now specify the two graphical elements that need to be lengthened.

The corner is simplified. You can now process more developments or use the middle mouse button to end the function.

Scale

Use this function to change the scale of a development. You can assign a different scale to each development in the drawing. Proceed as follows:

  1. Identify the development.
  2. Select a scale.
  3. Identify a fixed point for the development.

Dimension
  1. Identify the development.
  2. You can now modify the parameters. If you do not want to change the parameters, click the right mouse button.

The development will now be dimensioned. If you want to remove the dimensions, activate the 2-D Dimensions + Text tab and select Process > Extras > Part > Delete dimensioning.

Simplify

Corners and relief grooves which are smaller than the entered circle are deleted from the blank. Specify the radius for the circle and then identify the blank (development).

Delete 2-D<->3-D link

This function enables you to delete the link between sheet construction and 2-D blank. If you insert a new development afterwards, the previous one is preserved and is not updated.

If you are working with referenced parts, please bear the following in mind:
The link between 3-D part and 2-D blank is made, once the edge to be developed has been selected, by means of two points placed in layer 0 which lie on the edge and on the corresponding lines in the blank. If these points do not exist, the blank is re-generated, rather than updated.
When using referenced parts, you therefore need to bear in mind that an update can only be performed if the referenced part is saved after the blank is generated and no new development of the part specifying another edge is generated after this.
