Flange Gasket (PE)

Plant Engineering > Settings > Plant Engineering Settings > Part selection: Flange gasket

To ensure that the position of parts and the length of pipes can be correctly determined, the program respects the thickness of seals and automatically lengthens each flange connection by half of the seal thickness.

This section enables you to specify how flange gaskets should be handled. HiCAD provides several options for the automatic determination of seals and their thickness.

If this option is active, the options Pipe class also applies to seal and Seal in BOM are also available.

Instead of the specification of a standard designation, a value for seal thickness can be directly entered in the attribute DICHTUNG (SEAL). In this case the first two characters must be S=. Example: S=3.0 indicating a thickness of 3 mm.

This option is only available when you select the Include accessory sets check box. In this case, pipe class and BOM options are not available.

The following two options are only available if the options Include accessory sets is inactive and one of the options Via 'DICHTUNG' attribute or Specify fixed standard is active.

Seal as 3-D part
If this option is active, each seal is fitted as a genuine 3-D part. This option can only be activated if one of the following settings for the flange gasket has been selected:

If you select the options Via DICHTUNG attribute and Via accessory set, the first fitted part (of the two parts with flange connection) provides the seal if an appropriate assignment to the part exists. If this is not the case, the second fitted part provides the seal if an appropriate assignment to the part exists.

If you select the option Specify fixed standard it is always the first fitted part that provides the seal.

The 3-D part of the seal remains assigned to the part that has provided the seal; it is however no sub-part to this part!

A seal cannot be deleted separately, but is deleted together with the part that provides the seal.

A part that provides a seal is always handled as if it provided accessory parts (with the Automatic fitting option). This means that a another part that is connected to it with its flange connection, will neither provide a seal nor any accessory parts.

When working with accessory parts or seals, pleas make sure that the part providing the accessory parts also needs to provide the seal (via one of the three options described above).
