Itemise Part (3-D)

3-D Dimensioning + Text > Text > Itemise part

This function is used for fast annotation without the setting options of the Part annotation function, an item number being assigned to a part at the same time. The item number is displayed in curly brackets behind the part name in the part structure of the ICN, e.g. {5}. If the item number is a negative value, e.g. –5, display is in the form {5*}.

The Item number dialogue window is displayed here for you to define the annotation. It has the following input areas and functions:

Note also the Itemise functions in the Process menu.

Steel Engineering and Annotation

You use the annotation file to define the attributes of which you want the annotation to consist. Examples include

Various FTD files are shipped with HiCAD. In addition, you can also define your own FRD files using the Annotation Settings function. Choose the desired file.

Activate the SE annotation option if you want the annotation parameters set in the Steel Engineering module to be used.

Checkboxes and annotation angle

The following checkboxes are evaluated in the Free annotation function:

If you want the part annotation to be created at a certain angle, then enter the desired angle.

New

Free annotation
You use this function to assign the selected annotation to a 3-D part. The process flow of the function mainly depends on the Prompt for item number, Generate item number, Prompt for frame and Replace annotation checkboxes, which can also be combined.

The dialogue sequence is as follows:

  1. Prompt for frame if checkbox is active
  2. Prompt for item number or specify increments and start number, depending on active checkbox
  3. Identify part
  4. Specify pointer line
  5. Identify next part

Prompt for frame
Once you have called this function, you are requested to select a annotation frame. This selection applies to all subsequently itemised parts – within the current function call.

Prompt for item number
HiCAD asks you to enter the item number. If an item number has already been assigned to a part – either in the part master (DB) or in the part properties, it is displayed. You can accept this number or change it. Choose OK to exit the input window.

Generate item number
HiCAD automatically generates the item numbers. First specify the increment for the item numbers, i.e. the value by which you want the automatically generated numbers to increase each time. Choose OK or RET (left mouse button) to exit the input window . Then enter the start value for the numbering. As the default value, HiCAD offers you the value of the highest item number in the drawing + increment. Apply the default value or specify a new start value. End the value input.

Replace annotation
If the identified part has already been annotated, the annotation is deleted. The current settings of the item number menu are used as the new annotation. If the part has not yet been annotated, a new annotation is created.

Align annotation horizontally
This function generally works in the same way as the Free annotation function, the difference being that the tag is aligned horizontally to an existing reference tag.

Identify the reference tag. The remaining function dialogue depends on the settings as with the Free Item Number function. The new tag is aligned horizontally to the reference tag. The end point of the pointer line does not lie in the entered point, but is determined by the perpendicular of this point to the horizontal defined by the item number of the reference tag.

Align annotation vertically
The tag is aligned vertically to a reference tag here. The end point of the pointer line does not lie in the entered point, but is determined by the perpendicular of this point to the vertical defined by the item number of the reference tag.

Process and Delete

Change number

Corrects item numbers. Identify the part the item number of which you want to change, and enter the new item number.

Align horizontally/vertically

Subsequently aligns tags horizontally or vertically to a reference tag.
Identify the reference tag and then the tags that you want to align horizontally or vertically to it.

Increase numbers

Increases item number ranges by a particular value. Specify the first and the last item number to be changed. Define the increment.

For example, entering 1 4 3 causes item numbers 1 to 4 to be increased by 3, i.e. to become item numbers 4 to 7.

Move tag

Moves tags. Identify the tag, and define the new reference point of the leader line.

Edit tag

Changes the display of the annotation tag. Once the tag has been identified, the Annotation Settings dialogue window is displayed for this purpose.

Delete tag

Deletes tags. Identify the desired tag, or choose END to activate the selection menu and specify the tags to be deleted using the functions of the menu. The selected tags are deleted, but the item numbers in the BOM are preserved!
