Referenced parts are inserted, as are other parts, via the Insert Part functions on the Drawing tab or via the context menu for parts. You can insert referenced parts both as a main part and a sub-part.
To insert a referenced part as a main part, select Insert part, via Explorer or Insert part, from drawing....
There are various options for accessing these functions:
When inserting the part, HiCAD checks to see whether referenced parts of this name already exist in the drawing. If this is the case and if the version of the part that exists in the drawing differs from that of the part to be inserted, the following prompt is displayed:
Do you want the changes to the referenced part ... to be taken over from the drawing?
If you answer Yes,the added part is adjusted to the version of the part in the drawing. This does not modify the corresponding KRA file.
If you choose No, the part is inserted into the drawing unaltered. In this case, the drawing contains referenced parts with the same name, but different versions. The following message therefore appears:
The automatic update of referenced identical parts has been switched off. Update manually!
To update the identical parts subsequently, use the Referencing functions .
Choosing Cancel ends the function without inserting the part.
Insert as Sub-Part
To insert a referenced part as a sub-part of the active part, select Insert, Main part > From file ... or Insert, Main part > From drawing... functions. Then assign the inserted part to the appropriate main part, e.g. via Drag & Drop in the ICN.
