Create BOMs manually
Bills of Materials (BOMs) can be created for the entire drawing or for the active part.
The BOM functionality on the Drawing Management tab is identical to the functionality that you can find at Drawing > Itemisation/Detailing.

Please note:
On purely administrative workstations (i.e. without HiCAD), bills of materials can still be created, namely, with the HELiOS Desktop. There, activate the corresponding project first. Then, open the Product Explorer tab and right-click on the empty space of the left window. Make the main assembly of your drawing the top article of your drawing:
Create and manage BOMs automatically
Excel BOMs of certain model drawings can also be created automatically and managed together with the production drawings in HELiOS. To do this, the settings at PDM > Drawing Management > External production documents must be set accordingly in the Configuration Editor.
In HELiOS, the generated BOMs (Document type Others) are stored in the Bills of Materials subfolder of the respective project, e.g.
When saving the itemised source model, these BOMs are automatically updated.
Please note:
- The templates HiCAD-DB_Stahlbau_BIM.DE.2900.0.xlsx and HiCAD-DB_Stahlbau_BIM.rm_settings are used for BOM creation.
- For parts managed with the Drawing Management, the HiCAD attribute Item text $PTXT is assigned the HELiOS attribute COMPONENT_ITEMNR_TEXT. For external parts / standard parts, the HiCAD attribute $PTXT is assigned the item number of the part..
